Dr Tim Shakespeare

• Lead educator for The Many Faces of Dementia

The focus of his work is using Diffusion Tensor Imaging to investigate changes in the brain's white matter that are associated with Early Onset Alzheimer's Disease, including Posterior Cortical Atrophy (PCA).

Tim created and directs the online course 'The Many Faces of Dementia' which aims to give a unique insight into dementia through the stories, symptoms and science behind four less common diagnoses, and features interviews with UCL scientists and people living with dementia.

Tim won the Alzheimer's Society 'Rising Star in Dementia Research' award for 2016, particularly in recognition of the creative approach of 'The Many Faces of Dementia' which the judges believed would have a big impact on the world of care.

Tim is also assisting with the development of the UCL Dementia MSc (particularly the neuroscience pathway).
