- Postdoctoral Research Associate

Martina
is a Research Associate with a background in neuroimaging and
neuroanatomy in dementia, and specifically in manual segmentation of
different brain regions on magnetic resonance images, such as the
hippocampus, hypothalamus, habenula, and the striatum.
She is particularly interested in the volumetric analysis of the subcortical structures and the cerebellum, and their functional and structural connections with the cortex.
Her main research activity is in the context of the neuroimaging in frontotemporal dementia (FTD) within the Genetic Frontotemporal Dementia Initiative (GENFI).
Before joining the DRC, Martina collaborated as a Research Assistant with the IRCCS Istituto Centro San Giovanni di Dio Fatebenefratelli (Brescia, Italy), under the supervision of Prof. Giovanni B. Frisoni. In Italy she worked within the project on the harmonization protocol for manual segmentation of the hippocampus. Her PhD in Neuroscience was focused on the importance of the standardization of imaging biomarkers for their use in clinical settings and trials.
