Alison Hicks

I joined the department in 2017 as a Lecturer in Library and Information Science where my research and professional interests lie in the areas of information literacy, information practices as well as in various aspects of academic librarianship. I have previously worked as an adjunct instructor at the University of Denver, as well as an academic librarian at the University of Colorado, Boulder; the Inter-American Development Bank, and the Universidad Torcuato di Tella, amongst other institutions.

I am currently completing my PhD at the Swedish School of Library and Information Science under the supervision of Professor Annemaree Lloyd, Dr Ola Pilerot and Professor Lisa Given. My PhD research focuses on exploring the transitional information literacy practices of students who are learning a language abroad.

I have published a number of articles in international journals such as the Journal of Information Science (JIS), portal: Libraries and the academy, Journal of Information Literacy (JIL), and the Journal of Education for Library and Information Science (JELIS). My work is almost entirely available in Open Access format from my personal web page, which can be found at http://alisonhicks.weebly.com/
