Camel figurine

This mould-made camel was made in two halves from Nile silt clay. If you focus on the camel's hump you can see saddle from which three large storage jars, amphorae, hang on each side. If you rotate the object you can see the harness around its neck, perhaps with bells or amulets hanging from it. If you zoom in on the front of the next you can see the remains of a cream undercoating for a painted decoration survive on the surface but only traces of red paint remain on the neck.

If you turn the object upside down, you can see a small firing vent hole by the back legs showing us how the object made hollow. The remains of a cream undercoating for a painted decoration survive on the surface but only traces of red paint remain on the neck.
