Sphinx figurine

This small fired clay figure of a seated sphinx, with a lion body and human head, was mould-made in two halves in Nile silt clay and has a nemes headdress typically worn by kings.

If you rotate the object around, you can see patches of a cream undercoating for a painted decoration survive on the surface but no traces of paint remain.
