Shabti funerary figure
This
is one of a group of 399 mould-made faience shabtis that were found in the tomb
of a man named Horwedja, a priest in
the temple of Neith.
As you turn the object around, you can appreciate the high quality of this shabti, including the wig detailing at the back and fine facial features.
If you pan down the object, you can see an inscription around the lower body saying
that the shabti was prepared to do any work the owner might be called to do in
the afterlife.
If you zoom in on the shoulders, you can see he holds a hoe in his right hand
and a pick in his left to carry out these tasks.
