Join the IAS Critical Digital Studies Reading group for their bi-weekly 'Critical Digital Studies' reading group on Wednesdays from 18:00 - 19:00. All members of UCL and the wider community are welcome, from staff to undergraduates. You do not have to read all the materials for each session but try to do at least one of the readings. About the series
Digitalisation impacts all features of society, inviting the need for critical public conversations on what different directions digitalisation can take, what institutions shape those directions and who has the agency to determine shaping. This reading group seeks to bring in academic and practitioner reading to organise public discussions on how to shape the directionality of digitalisation. Every month, members will be given a topic or problem area along with a dedicated reading. They will be invited to bring in further readings and works to collectively organise a public reading list and directory. Our intention is to engage closer to the space of contestation, application and resistance within firms and geographies. By extension, we hope to bring further attention to specific problems in need of academic and public awareness in the UK and London. This event series is supported by UCL Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose, UCL Institute of Advanced Studies and Data for Policy.
