Dr. Jordan Fenlon
Jordan Fenlon is an Assistant Professor of BSL at Heriot-Watt University. Prior to this, he was a Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow within the Department of Linguistics at the University of Chicago (2014-16) and a Fulbright Scholar within the Department of Linguistics at Gallaudet University (2011-12). He has also worked as a research associate at DCAL (2009-14) on several associated projects such as the British Sign Language Corpus Project. His research interests include the phonology, morphology, and syntax of sign languages; understanding the use of sign languages in a social context (how do signers adjust their signing in different situations); and the relationship between sign language and gesture. In each case, he is interested in the use of sign language corpora to further our understanding of sign language use.
