UCL Dance Society’s Bloomsbury show is the society’s biggest annual production. Every piece in the show is choreographed and performed by members and linked to a given theme. The theme for this year’s show is Power!
Power can come in many different forms. We can find power from within ourselves to survive hardship or to chase our dreams. The people and institutions around us can give us strength but they can also make us feel powerless. Lastly, wider elements like nature or religion can also inspire us. The choreographers and dancers in the show explore these different elements of power in a wide range of dance styles from hip hop to ballet. This year you can also expect pieces which incorporate a fusion of traditional styles, such as jazz and contemporary, with more niche genres, like acrobatics and Chinese dance. Every piece tells a unique story that touches on personal experiences as well as wider issues facing our society today.
Join us in this exploration of the different dimensions of power through movement and song, which may even leave you with a new perspective on the world around you. It will be a night you do not want to miss!
