Are there many careers in music that make a liveable wage?

The answer is likely to be 'yes' given that music is a multi-faceted, multi-billion pound industry within the wider arts sector.

For example, in the USA, the arts are worth US billion annually, embrace 4.5% GDP and employ 5 million people. In the UK, the 2019 Arts Council reported that 363,713 jobs were in the arts sector, embracing £48 billion turnover.


Music is a significant subset of these and there are a wide variety of routes and employment opportunities, in industry, education, sciences, as well as the arts.
