If you need to create media content to support your teaching and research, we have a range of equipment available to loan. This service is only for UCL staff.
Equipment
We have a small list of equipment available for short term loan, this consists of the following:
- Compact cameras (DSLR)
- Video cameras
- Tripods
- Microphones
- Audio recording equipment
All equipment includes: power supply and memory card (for cameras), battery charger, battery, remote control, and all necessary leads to connect to your computer. Where appropriate, we try and combine items into kits which will include a microphone, tripod, and LED light as required.
If you have very specific kit requirements, the team has an extensive knowledge of products and great relationships with our suppliers, with the ability to purchase many items with an education discount. If you wish to purchase any items, we are happy to assist you in this process.
Terms of service
When borrowing an item from our stock, you assume full responsibility for it and are expected to return it in the same condition as it was loaned to you in. Departments or individuals will be charged for any missing or broken items and the full cost of replacement for items that are returned unrepairable. Items can be loaned for a maximum of 5 working days. Please see the terms of service before borrowing any equipment.
Booking an appointment
If you wish to use the service, please contact the Educational Media team via email to discuss your requirements and book an appointment. The team will be happy to advise on the best solution for your needs and can offer tips on video and audio recording.
To collect and return equipment, please visit the Educational Media office in the Cruciform building, accessed by the entrance on Huntley Street. Our opening hours are 10am - 4pm.
If you are collecting equipment, please make sure you have booked an appointment beforehand. If you require technical support, please make this clear when you book your appointment.
AV Centre loans
The Audiovisual Centre also runs a loan service which is more related to equipment for use with a lecture theatre or teaching space more information can be found on their website.
