PhD Student Nicolas Angelides presents at Biennial Electromagnetic Field camping festival

10 September 2018

Nicolas Angelides, Cosmoparticle PhD student, gives a public lecture entitled “Dark-Dark Dark-Matter Matter-Matter” at the Electromagnetic Field camping festival.

Nicolas Angelides

The Electromagnetic Field camping festival, held this year in late August and early September in Eastnor, UK, provides an opportunity for scientists, engineers, hackers, artists, geeks and crafters to celebrate their creativity and curiosity with a series of talks and demonstrations. This year’s experiences included a giant hexapod mantis robot suit and an immersive algorithm-generated music performance.

In his talk, Nicolas gave the audience a brief outline of the Universe, while highlighting the philosophical quandries thrown up by his specialist subject of dark matter.

Nicolas said, “on the days following my talk I had the opportunity to engage further with campers, discussing the boundary of Philosophy with Physics as well as going into more depth about my talk. Being able to live in such a community for three days and interact with many of the participants one-on-one not only allowed me to share my knowledge, but also my passion and enthusiasm for my research.”
