Scoping day

The one-day Scoping Event aims to kick start your team's use of the resource pack as a tool to achieve service improvements. We suggest being permissive about who attends this scoping event: the more the merrier! At a minimum, the whole CRT team and manager should come. Involvement from senior management in your organisation, and representatives of other services you work closely with and local service user or carer groups will also be an asset.

The scoping event event will:

  • Give participants an opportunity to describe in detail what a really effective local crisis resolution response would look like from their perspective. This will be captured in very concrete terms, as if that vision were already happening right now. We advocate that this vision is informed at the event by stories from current users of the service and the people that support them.
  • Explore where you are now with respect to this vision.
  • Capture all the assets in terms of strengths, resources, opportunities, and positive practice that have got you to where you are now.
  • Consider this position with respect to feedback on your service fidelity as assessed using the CORE Fidelity Scale. This scale has been rigorously developed on the basis of a range of expert opinion and existing research. While not providing a blueprint it will help you to ensure that all the relevant areas are considered and to support you in prioritising commitments to action.
  • Agree the process for taking forward priority improvement work based on all of the above.
  • Agreeing the process for agreeing the proposed development plan arising with your board-level sponsor and with the support of the SIG

Your team's facilitator can help plan and run the scoping event. A template for how a scoping event could run is available below, although local flexibility is encouraged.
