The latest edition of the Constitution Unit’s regular constitutional review, Monitor, is now available. Published three times a year, Monitor provides a unique round-up and analysis of constitutional developments over the preceding four months.

Monitor 89 is available both online and as a downloadable PDF. You can use the online version to find and share the stories that interest you the most or, if you would prefer, you can read and print the PDF version.

Among much else, this edition of Monitor covers:

  • Progress on the bill to remove the remaining hereditary peers from the House of Lords
  • The activities of the House of Commons Procedure and Modernisation Committees
  • Voting system, party funding and other electoral reforms across the UK
  • The government’s ambitions for civil service reform
  • Negative briefings against the Attorney General
  • The white paper on English devolution
  • Northern Ireland, including Brexit-related developments
  • The new Canadian Prime Minister

You can also find Monitor’s lead story by Alan Renwick and Meg Russell on The Constitution Unit Blog. It highlights that vigilance about protecting democracy, self-determination and the rule of law should be a constant priority in the UK as well as overseas.
