Dr Silvia Bartolucci recognised for enhancing Financial Computing students' experience
28 April 2025
Dr Silvia Bartolucci, Programme Coordinator for UCL Computer Science’s four Finance MSc programmes, has been nominated for a UCL Provost’s Education Award in the category of “Improving the Student Experience.”

The annual Education Awards celebrate staff making an outstanding contribution to students’ learning and success across UCL. Dr Bartolucci has been recognised for her leadership in strengthening the academic experience and building a stronger community across the Finance MSc programmes.
Since 2021, following the launch of two new MSc programmes alongside two existing ones, Dr Bartolucci identified the need for greater consistency in planning, student engagement and coordination. In response, she proposed a new framework for collaboration among Programme Directors and was appointed Programme Coordinator to lead this work.
Her initiatives include creating an internal forum for sharing best practice, streamlining teaching activities, and ensuring alignment across all four programmes. To enhance the student experience directly, she launched the MSc Project Showcase - giving students the opportunity to present their research to industry professionals - and introduced summer and winter networking events to encourage peer interaction.
She has also strengthened support for final research projects and helped recruit external teaching staff from industry to bring real-world expertise into the classroom.
More recently, Dr Bartolucci has taken on the role of Exam Board Chair for the Finance MSc programmes, further supporting a seamless and positive experience for students.
Reflecting on her nomination, Dr Bartolucci said:
"I’m truly honoured to receive this nomination. Creating a cohesive, supportive, and forward-thinking academic environment has a direct impact on the success of both students and staff. This recognition reflects our ongoing commitment to continuous improvement, collaboration, and always putting students at the centre of what we do."
The winners of the 2025 UCL Provost’s Education Awards will be announced in June.
