Hackathon Mission
As computer science students, hackathons are a rite of passage, providing opportunities to work on meaningful projects while having fun. In our experience, however, these events tend to be dominated by male students, with limited female participation.
That’s why we are excited to announce London’s first women-only hackathon - an event where women in tech can apply their skills to interesting projects, stand out to employers, and find community amongst each other! Our goal is to make their learning experience the focus of the event, by creating a space where women are the majority and their comfort is prioritised. Open to all STEM undergraduate and MSc Students studying at any UK university.
Event Goals
● Encourage Female Participation: By creating a space specifically for women in tech, our primary goal is to empower them to reach their full potential with confidence. Ultimately, we hope this initiative encourages female STEM students to participate in more such events in the future.
● Industry Networking: Participants will have the opportunity to meet with top employers, showcase their work to industry professionals and explore potential career paths. We hope for attendees to walk away with insightful conversations and meaningful connections.
● Technical Experience: With two industry-relevant challenges to work on, the event is designed to help participants gain experience in creative problem-solving. Tangible accomplishments and experience in presenting will leave them with a stronger technical foundation and professional skills.
