A study of position during the late stages of labour in women with an epidural

Funded by the National Institute of Health Research Health Technology Assessment, BUMPES is a study of position during the late stages of labour in women with a low dose epidural having their first baby. The aim of this trial is to find out whether a policy of helping women to stay in an upright position compared to a policy of lying down reduces the need to help delivery with instruments e.g. forceps.
