•    Christmas Card and Collection for the Cleaners We have decided to show our appreciation for the sterling work that the 2 daytime cleaners Jose and Hernan do for the floor. Not only do they ensure that the toilets and kitchen areas are clean and well stocked, they load, run and unload the dishwashers, make all booked room changes to M02 and M03, they help with porterage, remove waste and are always cheerful and willing. They are never known to complain and I am sure you will agree that they are worth their weight in gold! If you are interested in donating/signing their card Hugh Willoughby has the collection. He can be located at desk 2134 (by the window overlooking the Rosewood Hotel).

•    UCL Wellbeing team update – July 2019

As the academic year draws to a close, UCL PACT network is putting on their final event of the year, a symposium for parents at UCL.
This one of its kind event brings parents and children face-to-face. Hear children’s honest opinions directly to help you understand the challenges they face! Join the conversation and ask them questions! And finally, take away useful strategies from our panel of experts!
Themes will include:
•    Family relationships and wellbeing;
•    Social media and impact on mental health;
•    School life and future aspirations.

The event will take place on Wednesday 17th July, 10:00am – 12.30pm with networking lunch 12.30pm – 1.30pm.
You can book your place here.

•    Free park yoga On Wednesday lunchtimes from 24th July, Hannah Legg (UCL CAM and Wellbeing Champion) will be offering free park yoga classes. Think mindful flowing sequences with a focus on breath, building strength, flexibility and improving posture. Working with poses that will relieve our desk/text bodies and leave us feeling energised for the afternoon. We’ll be in St George's Gardens, which is a beautiful quiet spot near the Brunswick Centre so we'll have the added benefits of fresh air, sunshine (hopefully!) and being surrounded by nature. Experienced yogis and complete newbies all welcome. Further info and booking available here.

•    Free yoga tasters at IOE A short yoga class once or twice a week could be an antidote to most common office ailments. In July, I'm offering three FREE taster sessions to staff who are curious about these classes. Michelle specialises in teaching yoga to staff at universities and has been teaching yoga at UCL for three years. What to expect: A slow (sometimes strong) practice that focuses on safe, healthy alignment and the linking of movement with breath (Vinyasa). Classes are suitable for everyone from complete beginners to more experienced practitioners with modifications offered to suit individual differences. More info and booking available here.

•    Run Talk Run Euston UCL Biochemical Engineering are partnering with Run Talk Run to create a space where, through movement, we improve wellbeing. It’s a supportive space for all run/walk/jog 5k together. Starting every Friday from 12.15pm, UCL Quad (Wilkins Building).

      Phishing E-mails
      • UCL has been targeted by phishing scams in recent weeks. If you receive an e-mail out of the blue asking you to enter your UCL credentials, please report it to the ICTM IS Service Desk. In case of doubt, always ask.
      • A good rule of thumb is that anything that doesn't come from an @ucl.ac.uk e-mail address but asks for your login details, is likely to be a scam.
      • See Tips to Avoid Phishing Scams (halfway down the page).
      • If you have entered your UCL credentials in, please reset your password via http://myaccount.ucl.ac.uk/
      Desk Moves

        Equality, diversity and inclusion survey
        • The survey covers your experiences of aspects of working life within the Institute. Flood update

        It is likely that the MRC CTU area that flooded will still be out of play next week, so we will continue helping out by offering some of our desks to colleagues on the other side of the house. Thanks everyone for your efforts on this.
