Clinical Psychologists should be able to recognise the value of research to the critical evaluation of practice and demonstrate:
An ability to identify, review and critically appraise a substantial body of research evidence relevant to clinical psychology practice, including a range of research methodologies |
An ability to use research and critical appraisal of research to inform practice and to engage in evidence-based practice |
Psychologists should also be able to conduct independent research, and hence demonstrate:
An ability to initiate research, identifying research questions |
An ability to choose appropriately from a variety of research designs |
An ability to understand research ethics and to apply ethical principles in the conduct of research |
An understanding of, and ability to use, appropriate qualitative and quantitative approaches to analysis |
An ability to report research findings |
An ability critically appraise own research. |
An ability to identify pathways for dissemination |
An understanding of audit procedures and an ability to conduct audit and service evaluations |
