Clinical Academic Placements:
We are excited to be able to offer a range of 6-month Clinical Academic Placements in Year Three, including in the UCL University Clinic.
These placements focus on equipping trainees with skills vital for a clinical research trajectory.

- Melanie Palmer
UCL DClinPsy Trainee, Clinical Academic Pathway
Melanie Palmer is currently in her 2nd year of training as a clinical psychologist. She has a Universitas 21 Joint PhD in Education (University of Auckland) and Medical Sociology (University of Glasgow). Her thesis evaluated low-intensity parenting interventions for parents of young children displaying early conduct problems. After completing her PhD, Melanie worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience, King’s College London. She is particularly interested in typical and atypical emotional and behavioural development and the multiple factors that influence development. She is on the UCL DClinPsy clinical academic pathway and excited about the opportunities the pathway provides to combine her research and clinical interests.
