UCL at COP16 – Biodiversity
21 October – 1 November 2024
Cali, Colombia
CBD COP16 marks the Sixteenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity and will take place from 21 October – 1 November 2024, in Cali, Colombia.
The meeting unites governments, Indigenous leaders, the business community and civil society, to discuss the pressing Biodiversity Crisis and the ways in which we can reverse habitat loss and protect and preserve our planet's ecosystems. Biodiversity plays a crucial role in the way many of our natural systems function, including how these interface with climate. Additionally, a biodiverse planet is vital for food security, the economy and planetary health.
The theme of COP16 is 'Peace with Nature' and during the two weeks UCL colleagues in Cali and beyond will have the opportunity to engage in meaningful discussions that will shape the future of the biodiversity crisis.
