On 18 and 19 Sept 2023, the UCL Climate Action Unit facilitated a workshop to explore ideas for the IPCC Seventh Assessment Report.

An analysis of all of the ideas generated from that workshop has been conducted, and is summarised into themes in this new publication.

The ideas were contributed by approximately 170 policymakers, practitioners and IPCC authors from 62 countries.

The aim of the workshop was to explore how to make IPCC reports more actionable – a need expressed by end users of the reports (policymakers, practitioners, finance and business decision makers, etc.).

By ‘actionable’ we mean providing information that helps someone to understand how to take action. It is distinctive from being ‘policy prescriptive’, which is telling someone what they should do.
