Modules

A wide range of Undergraduate modules is available to students taking Classics and Ancient World degrees.

Modules In Translation

Modules starting with code CLAS do not require a knowledge of an ancient languages. These modules are open to students from other departments, subject to available space, except for:

  • CLAS0004 Approaches to the Ancient World (compulsory for Ancient World students: open to Classics, Ancient History and Classical Archaeology and Classical Civilisation students, subject to permission of the Ancient World Tutor).
  • CLAS0005 Interpreting Greek Literature and CLAS0006 Interpreting Latin Literature (compulsory for Classics and Joint Degree students: open to Ancient World students subject to permission of the Departmental Tutor).
  • CLAS0020 Classics and Literary Theory (compulsory for Classics and Joint Degree students: open to Ancient World students subject to permission of the Departmental Tutor).

Modules In Ancient Greek

  • Compulsory modules and standard language modules (Beginners to Advanced) will be offered every year. 
  • Text and thematic modules are rotated and not available every year.

Modules In Latin

  • Compulsory modules and standard language modules (Beginners to Advanced) will be offered every year. 
  • Text and thematic modules are rotated and not available every year.

Modules In Ancient Middle Eastern Languages

  • Compulsory modules and standard language modules (Beginners to Advanced) will be offered every year. 
  • Text and thematic modules are rotated and not available every year.
