Places to Work

It is important to find a space to work in around the Bloomsbury campus that suits you. This helps you to meet other researchers and build a community of friends and academic support. The UCL library is often very full during the undergraduate term, especially around exams, but there are plenty of other options for postgraduate students.

A world-class library and social space: this is the best library to work in, and the place to meet colleagues from other London universities, or visitors to the ICS.

UCL provides a range of spaces for PG students to work and meet.

The IAS provides resources for UCL research and post-doctoral students, including space to work and meet in, and support for conferences and events.

Remember also that the University of London library in Senate House provides a basic library with quiet work-space on four floors and spectacular views across London. In the School of Advanced Study the Warburg Institute and Institute of Historical Research both have excellent libraries.

The Wellcome Institute library, right next to UCL, has a fine reading room and an excellent collection centred on the history of medicine.
