One-day course on 'Ancient Greek literature, history and culture' for secondary school teachers

The course will provide an opportunity to anyone teaching subjects related to classical Greece (for GCSE, A-level or IB), be it for ancient Greek, Classical Civilisation or Ancient History, to brush up on aspects of the latest research on this topic. Experts from University College London (UCL) and the British School at Athens (BSA) will offer lectures and seminars on various aspects of ancient Greek literature and culture.
Thanks to the generosity of the A. G. Leventis Foundation attendance is free (including tea, coffee, light sandwich lunch), and the event is open to all teachers at secondary schools, PGCE students, as well as MA and PhD students interested in a career in secondary-school teaching. Since spaces are limited, registration is required.
Attendees are encouraged to stay on to watch the UCL Greek Play (Sophocles' Oedipus Rex) in the evening (7.30pm, UCL Bloomsbury Theatre; tickets to be bought separately: link to follow) and to attend the pre-performance talk (at 6pm) by Professor Miriam Leonard (UCL Greek and Latin).
The day will be preceded (at 10.30am in the same room) by a screening of the film 'For an empty tunic, for a Helen', created by Antony Makrinos for the recent Summer School in Homer (the film will last about an hour, and there will be time for questions at the end).
