Industrial Advisory Panel

The Industry Advisory Panel (IAP) serves as a link between the University and our external stakeholders but also brings new ideas and scrutiny to everything we do.

The Industry Advisory Panel (IAP) is one of the most important elements of an academic Department. The IAP not only serves as a link between the University and our external stakeholders but also brings new ideas and scrutiny to everything we do. This is particularly important for a Department like Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering (CEGE) where all our activities are deeply rooted in professional practice.

The key points of the IAP remit are to advise on the following:

  • The current and future teaching programmes
  • Departmental vision and strategy
  • Including research strategy and the priorities of the Department
  • The finances of the Department as it affects its ability to deliver effective teaching and research
  • Development of facilities and infrastructure
  • The learning experience of the students
  • Future trends in the expectations placed on graduates by the profession
  • The Department’s relations with industry and alumni
  • The impact of the Department’s research and teaching activities in the wider world
  • The Department’s reputation both nationally and internationally
  • Any matters considered by the board to be relevant to the well being of the Department
