The UCL TMSRG is unique in that it we are able to perform a number of mass spec based technologies:
- Proteomics
- Targeted Metabolomics & Lipidomics
- Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS)
- Targeted Proteomics
Current Equipment at the BMSC
The TMSRG has benefited from joint funding from UCL and the Wolfson foundation to acquire MS equipment
We now currently house five mass spectrometers used for research and routine clinical analyses.
Waters SYNAPT G2-Si High Definition Mass Spectrometer - coupled to a Waters Nano-High Performance Liquid Chromatography Unit
The SYNAPT G2 provides the most complete characterization of complex mixtures and molecules with unique levels of MS performance, industry leading informatics and unparalleled platform versatility.
The SYNAPT G2 has ion mobility technology which will provide improved biomarker discovery capability and will be coupled to an online 2D LC system making in depth profiling simpler, quicker, more sensitive and accurate.
The SYNAPT G2 has CID and ETD fragmentation capabilities this means we will be able to perform improved analysis of post-translational modifications.
Waters QToF Premier MS
Our QToF Premier will soon be equipped with a UPLC system to perform metabolomic profiling
Waters Xevo TQ-S- Triple Quad MS
We currently have two Xevo TQ-S MS which are highly
sensitive instruments used for high throughput targeted assays including peptide MRM assays (link when made!!) and lipid
and metabolite assays. It is essentially these mass spectrometers that are used for method development assays.
Waters Quattro Alliance 2795
This is our work horse tandem MS and primarily used for routine diagnostic assays that are offered at the TMSRG.
