Research summary
My group performs applied health research into paediatric musculo skeletal disease with a focus on hip disorders. We study modifiable predictors of patient outcomes and robust risk factors that permit determination of patient candidacy for surgical procedures and risk stratification. We investigate variations in care, specifically the impact of physician attitude on clinical decision making and health outcomes.
Teaching summary
I teach clinical epidemiology and orthopaedic surgery on various courses nationally and internationally. I supervise MSc and higher degree students.
Biography
I am a clinical epidemiologist and fully qualified orthopaedic surgeon. I completed a post doc in the Child Health Evaluative Sciences Programme, The Hospital for Sick Children Research Institute, and postgraduate studies in the Department of Health Policy, Management & Evaluation, University of Toronto, under the supervision of James G. Before joining UCL I held a personal chair at the University of Vienna, Austria.
