Background of the Meeting

Following the 1987 BSDB Meeting on "Craniofacial Development" organized by Peter Thorogood and Cheryll Tickle, the organizers and other colleagues (Andrew Lumsden, Mark Ferguson, Gudrun Moore, Alisdair Ivens, Julian Lewis and Gillian Morriss-Kay) decided to start holding annual informal meetings to increase communication between laboratories working on various aspects of the development of the head, to offer the opportunity to young scientists to present their work in a friendly and stimulating environment and promote collaborative research. 

The group has met annually since 1989, and the initial number of participants, about 20 people, rose very rapidly through word of mouth with more groups asking to be included in the mailing list. Over the last few years there have always been over one hundred people attending the Meeting.

Oral Presentations

If you wish to present your work (20 minutes slot, 15 minutes presentation plus 5 minutes discussion), please submit your abstract by Friday 25th April 2025 to ich.hgm.admin@ucl.ac.uk.

All presenters are required to register on the event. Registration deadline is Sunday 4th May 2025.

Please remember that slots are allocated on a "first come first served basis". Hence, early registration is recommended.

The registration fee for the 2025 meeting is £37 and includes a programme, refreshment breaks, lunch and event administration. Payments can cover the contribution for all the participants from the same laboratory, but full names of all registrants must be provided. Registration deadline is Sunday 4th May 2025.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations must be received in writing at least two weeks before the start of the event and will be subject to an administration charge of 10% of the course fee. It is regretted that no refunds will be made within two weeks of the course date. 

The department will not be liable for any additional incurred costs (including but not limited to travel, accommodation, visa, etc.).

Any refund will be made by UCL to you within 30 days of your cancellation and be paid to you in the same way as you paid for your order.
