Introduction to Logistic Regression
15 May 2020, 9:30 am–5:00 pm
This one day course focuses on understanding the principles of logistic regression via the notions of odds/odds ratios and transformations. How good the given model is will be discussed and ways of improving it.

There are currently no dates scheduled for this course, we will announce new dates for the next academic year shortly.
NOTE: Due to the coronavirus outbreak, all courses will now be delivered online through a live video feed. You can expect the same level of group and individual support as you would have received in our face-to-face courses.
Binary (proportion/percentage) outcomes are common in medical and scientific research and cannot be validly analysed using basic linear regression analysis. It is important to understand how to analyse these types of outcomes appropriately to ensure useful and valid conclusions are drawn from data. The logistic regression course covers the following key topics:
- Odds ratios as a means of comparing binary outcomes between two groups
- How logistic regression allows for other factors within this comparison
- The basics of logistic regression
- Model selection and goodness-of-fit with applied examples
- Interpretation of SPSS output

"I thought this course was excellent and the speaker was fantastic."
"I got a great deal from the day because I had previously studied logistic regression on my own - the course helped consolidate my understanding. The lecturer showed much enthusiasm for the topic and had a very friendly personality. I was a teacher and lecturer myself for 33 years and could have learnt much from her presentation skills! The course was excellent value for money"
"The course was appropriately structured. Teaching quality was superb. I am very much looking forward to attending further sessions here."
"The course is well designed. The pace is pitched at the right level. The tutor was excellent. Her style of interactive teaching was very effective. Her lectures were very clear. She was engaging and was able to explain some of the difficult concepts in a simplified manner."
