29 April - 1 May 2020 – The course runs across 3 days with the first 2 days aimed at SLTs who work with children and young people with voice disorders in a community or educational setting and who have a special interest/foundation level experience in voice disorders. The third day Masterclass builds on the foundation skills of Days 1-2.

Who should attend?

Speech and Language Therapists working with children and young people with voice disorders across all settings.

How is the course structured?

Foundation Course: 29-30th April 2020

This two day course is aimed at Speech & Language Therapists who work with voice disordered children in a community or educational setting. SLT voice specialists may also find it relevant to their work. The main focus will be the assessment and management of common childhood voice disorders e.g. vocal fold nodules, in a framework of evidence based practice.

The course will be structured around presentations and interactive workshops. Participants will be strongly encouraged to share their experiences and ideas. The course will focus on ‘Reaching a Working Diagnosis’, and ‘Devising and Delivering Treatment Programmes’

Masterclass: 1st May 2020

This masterclass builds on the knowledge and skills from the two day Foundation Skills course. This experiential day covers practical skills and methods that can be used to guide children to modify their breathing, muscle tension and phonatory patterns. Case examples will be used throughout with reference to both hyperfunctional and organic voice disorders.

This masterclass is open to qualified Speech and Language Therapists who have completed the 2 day foundations skills course on the 29-30th April 2020; the previous ICH course “Managing Paediatric Voice Problems”.

What topics will be covered?

Foundation course:

  • Common aetiologies and their management
  • The impact of growth and development ENT and SLT assessment procedures & when to refer
  • An overview of direct and indirect therapy approaches and techniques used with children
  • Setting up voice services in a community setting


  • Treatment methods and techniques
  • Theoretical concepts around behaviour change and motor learning
  • Practical interactive workshops including experiential learning and case presentations

Attendance at a 2 day foundation course is recommended before registering for this 1 day masterclass.

What will you learn by the end of this course?

Theoretical and practical knowledge and skills, presented by an experienced MDT, that will facilitate effective triaging, MDT working, assessment and treatment of common paediatric voice disorders.

We regret that we are no longer able to invoice NHS Trusts or other organisations. Our on-line booking system will issue an automatic receipt for your card payment so that you can reclaim from your organisation if appropriate.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations must be received in writing at least two weeks before the start of the event and will be subject to an administration charge of 20% of the course fee. It is regretted that no refunds will be made within two weeks of the course date. 

ICH Events reserves the right to cancel any conference it deems necessary and will, in such event, make a full refund of the registration fee only. ICH Events will not be liable for any additional incurred costs (including but not limited to travel, accommodation, visa, etc.).

No liability is assumed by ICH Events for changes in programme date, content, speakers or venue. 

Any refund will be made by us to you within 30 days of your cancellation and be paid to you in the same way as you paid for your order.
