BRC Doctoral Trainee Support Grant

The Doctoral Training Support Fund invites proposals for consumables funding for translational clinical research / experimental medicine projects being undertaken by PhD students within GOSH and UCL GOS ICH.

Supported projects must be patient and/or disease relevant research including basic laboratory science, pre-clinical and early-phase clinical research (phase 0-II) aligned with the research themes of GOSH BRC. Further information on the objectives of GOSH BRC and the remit of each of the four research themes can be found on the GOSH website.  In addition, applications may be considered under Applied Child Health Informatics which is a new theme being developed as part of our next BRC bid.

 Applicants are eligible to apply if they:

  • registered prior to the 2021/22 academic year
  • have a primary supervisor who is based at GOSH or ICH, or have a secondary supervisor at GOSH or ICH and part of their stipend/fees are currently funded by the GOSH BRC
  • will be able to complete the proposed research for the purposes of this source of funding before they enter Completing Research Student (CRS) status
  • have not previously been awarded a BRC Doctoral Training Support Grant

The maximum amount of funding requested per application is £5,000. Funds may be accessed from 1st April 2021 and must be fully spent by 30th November 2022.
