TFL Strike Action

6 January 2017

Tube station staff in the RMT and TSSA unions are planning to strike for 24 hours from 18:00 on Sunday 8 January. If the strike goes ahead services will be severely disrupted from Sunday evening until the end of service on Monday 9 January. This will mean that the majority of stations in Zone 1 will be closed.  Whether you are a student or staff member, below is everything you need to know about what to do:

Chemistry Students: At present the industrial action by station staff on the London Underground is expected to take place on Monday 9th January 2017.  The main impact is on the CHEM1301 and third year synthesis laboratory classes. BOTH will run and you are expected to make your best efforts to attend.   Whilst we understand this may prove inconvenient, we hope that you also appreciate that re-scheduling will be even more difficult.  However, all staff involved have plans in place to ensure they will be here on time, from many different directions and zones.  All other events (including tests) will proceed as normal UNLESS you are advised otherwise by the staff concerned.

Chemistry Staff: Please let your line manager/supervisor know as soon as possible if you are unable to attend work.  For health and safety reasons we do need to know who is in the building.  If you are a line manager/group leader and will not be able to attend work, please ensure you have arranged appropriate cover for you team and have informed both Brian Kavanagh and Nicola Best.
