After obtaining a BEng from the University of Benin, Nigeria, I wanted to further build my knowledge in Chemical Engineering and UCL provided the perfect opportunity to do this. The MSc Chemical Process Engineering has been one of the most challenging pursuits I have ever undertaken, and extremely fulfilling. I felt welcome from the very first day. The lecturers were great and they genuinely cared about the students.
The MSc Chemical Process Engineering program at UCL is quite comprehensive, with modules such as Fluid Particle Systems, Energy Systems and Sustainability, Water and Wastewater Treatment, Environmental Systems and Safety and Loss Prevention. They were all intellectually stimulating and well put together, and, in my opinion, satisfactorily in line with industry requirements. I was also glad to have the option of taking a project management course. It just goes to show that UCL is quite invested in a well-rounded learning experience.
The most rewarding part of this program was my Research Project, ‘’Flow Pattern and Pressure Drop Predictions in Large Scale Oil-Water Flows’’, under the excellent supervision of Prof. Panagiota Angeli. The opportunity to work under one of the most knowledgeable persons in this field was one I did not take for granted.
My year at UCL provided good cultural exposure, as it enabled me to meet people of diverse nationalities and make lasting friendships. UCL was not only mentally beneficial to me, but socially as well.
