Lecturer (Teaching) (part-time)
Biography
Albie is a Lecturer (Teaching) on the Global Management of Natural Resources MSc programme. They are also currently undertaking their PhD in the ThAMeS (The advanced multiphase systems) research group. Prior to joining UCL in 2021 they worked for an investment manager in the asset management of renewable assets, gaining insight into climate finance and renewables life cycles. Their teaching if focused on these principles with a keen interest in the sustainable implementation of renewables.
Teaching Summary
Albie teaches on a number of the GMNR modules including, CENG0035 Mineral Usage, Extraction and Processing, CENG0036 Prevention and Remediation of Environmental Contamination, and CENG0059: Renewable Energy and the Resources Sector. They also contribute to the delivery of the CENG0037 Dissertation module. Their teaching aims to draw on past educational and industrial experience to deliver multidisciplinary understanding of renewables and their life cycles.
Research Summary
Albie's research looks at the intensified recycling of NdFeB magnets. As a member of the ThAMeS group this research is both practical, covering process deign and optimisation of a small channel extraction system and fundamental, considering the fluid dynamics of the multiphase system.
