5 April 2019

On 8th-9th April 2019, Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh will host a two-day symposium at the James Watt II Conference Centre for ChemEngDayUK 2019.

Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh

ChemEngDayUK 2019 will bring together academics, industry partners and guests, through a combination of plenary speakers, talks and poster sessions.

The themed areas of discussion are:

  • Bioprocessing and Biotechnology
  • Catalysis and Novel Materials
  • Energy
  • Particulate Technology
  • Process Modelling and Simulation
  • Sustainable Industry

Marc-Olivier Coppens
This year UCL Chemical Engineering will feature heavily at the event, with a Plenary Presentation by Ramsay Memorial Professor and Head of the Department, Marc-Olivier Coppens on Tuesday 9th April on "Nature-Inspired Chemical Engineering".

Other UCL presenters include:

  • Domenico Macri - Particle Systems session: "Analysis of the defluidization behaviour of industrial reactive powders at high temperature"

  • Kaiqiao Wu - Particle Systems session: "Dynamically structured fluidised beds: A way to control bubbling flows." [Speed]

  • Halan Mohamed - Bio-Inspired Engineering session: "Kidney inspired membranes with superior anti-fouling properties." This is the first time a session on bio-inspired engineering has been available at ChemEngDayUK.

  • Luca PanarielloReactions, Catalysts and Kinetics session: "Synthesis of gold nanoparticles in a continuous reactor: a reaction engineering-driven design approach." [Speed]

  • Aikaterini Tsatse - Modelling session: "Using a superstructure methodology for the optimal design of distillation columns."

  • Ioannis Gkioulekas - Modelling session: "Optimal regression tree models through mixed integer programming."

  • Simona Migliozzi - Modelling session: "A coupled experimental and CFD study for the development of new continuous mixing processes involving complex fluids."
