Abstract:

I aim to give an overview of the petrochemical industry, the commodities it produces, and the role of chemical engineers within it.  I will discuss some of the sustainability challenges facing the industry and the options it has.

Dr. Leslie Bolton

Former Senior Advisor at Chemical Engineering, BP Group Research

Dr. Leslie Bolton
Les Bolton retired from BP after a 33-year career spanning its petrochemicals business and its long-term research arm.  His recent past has mostly been engaged on developing new process technologies.  He has an MEng and PhD from the University of Cambridge and interests in chemical reaction engineering, process separations, and process modelling and simulation.
