Diagnosis

Available testing includes:

• Molecular genetic testing
• Extensive peripheral neuropathy blood screening
• Neurophysiological investigations (nerve conduction studies, EMG, thermal thresholds)
• 3 Tesla MRI for muscle and nerve

The screening for rare genes and the more detailed MRI protocols are not routinely available elsewhere.

We also provide a specialised nerve biopsy service including detailed immunohistochemical analysis and electron microscopy.

Treatment

Immunosuppressant treatment for inflammatory neuropathies is available and includes IVIG, plasma exchange and other immunosuppressive drugs.

Specialised physiotherapy and orthotic appliances are provided.

Occupational therapy for daily living, lifestyle advice and the work environment is available.
