Read the report- STEM Ambassador Programme Review
The UKRI (UK Research & Innovation) has featured the 50.50 Engineering Engagement Strategy in their 2023 report. The 50.50 Engineering Engagement Strategy is a UCL Engineering programme, led by Dr Elpida Makrygianni (Head of Education Engagement) to attract more diversity in higher education and in the engineering workforce. Each year the programme runs approximately 130 engineering projects, events and activities with over 500 primary and secondary schools in London and the UK, and between 600-800 UCL staff and students designing and delivering the activity programmes.
- Jobs for the Boys?
The Set to Lead project, funded by the HE STEM project and delivered by a collaboration between UCL and Katalytik, set out to investigate and address the differences in the transition between men and women from engineering and technology degrees into relevant employment.
- Report on Vocational Pedagogy for the Gatsby Foundation
The report addresses an issue which is relevant for the current discussion about the creation of Professional and Technical Pathways to employment – the contribution that excellent vocational teaching and learning makes to the development of the forms of expertise that employers’ require and that facilitate learners’ continuing employability.

These were three years of growth, education innovation, and consolidation of the four pillars of the Centre’s remit; Education, Research, Consultancy and STEM Education Engagement.
- Engineering Kids' Futures Report
UCL Engineering staff have been directly involved in the Engineering Kids' Futures report and is actively supporting the IET's call to embed engineering into primary and secondary education. Endorsed by over 150 engineering leaders and celebrities, the new Engineering Kids’ Futures report is urging the government to help tackle the UK’s engineering skills shortage by embedding engineering in primary and secondary education.
- Global Responsibility of Engineering Report
Visiting Professor Shannon Chance conducted the qualitative research which was published in an Engineers Without Borders UK report. The report looks at the extent to which global responsibility is embedded into engieneering practice.
