Adrian Nat Gentry (they/them) recently visited from Purdue University in West Lafeyette, Indiana, U.S. to conduct research on the Integrated Engineering Program.

Adrian is a PhD candidate advised by Dr Kerrie Douglas and was funded by Purdue’s competitive TRAvel for CollaborativE Research grant. The visit was hosted by Professor John Mitchell and Dr Diana Martin and focused on professional skill development fostered by scenario weeks. Dr Douglas spent time as a Fulbright Specialist to the Centre in June 2024 and additional visits have been planned between Purdue and UCL colleagues since, fostering a growing partnership.
While here, Adrian observed the Integrated Engineering Program’s second year scenario weeks, conducted interviews with Centre of Engineering Education faculty and engineering undergraduates. Adrian shares, “My time at UCL was great. I was able to explore how professional skills can be purposively integrated into engineering curricula and, more broadly, to see how engineering education research is conducted in the U.K.”
Additionally, Adrian visited many cities near London, including Bath, Cambridge and even Dublin!
