The 50.50 Engineering Engagement Strategy is a UCL Engineering programme, led by Dr Elpida Makrygianni (Head of Education Engagement) to attract more diversity in higher education and in the engineering workforce. Each year the programme runs approximately 130 engineering projects, events and activities with over 500 primary and secondary schools in London and the UK, and between 600-800 UCL staff and students designing and delivering the activity programmes.

UCL’s work is featured on ‘STEM Ambassador programme review: a report for UKRI' on pages 92-94 (detailed information about the programme) and pages 23-24 (case study). Find the report here (PDF). This report was published in November 2022, alongside UKRI’s new strategy.

Gender equality and diversity is one of UCL Faculty of Engineering’s strategic priorities. For more information on our schools engagement see here.
