About Us

London is a major centre for Ecology and Evolution, with a large number of research groups across dozens of institutions. Nevertheless, the size of the city and number of separate locations hampers interaction. The Centre for Ecology and Evolution (CEE) was born to address this issue. This 30-years old network aims to foster collaborations between researchers in and around the London area, and is remains highly relevant today. We are comprised by ten institutions, have over 250 active members, 150 of the ECR, and organise well-attended events that are typically over-subscribed. Every year we organise two Scientific Symposia, the Darwin Birthday Debate and one family-friendly event at the Institute of Zoology or Royal Botanic Garden, Kew.

The CEE is run by a cross-institutional steering committee including; University College London, the Institute of Zoology (Zoological Society of London), Natural History Museum, Imperial College, Queen Mary, Royal Holloway, Royal Veterinary College, Linnean Society, Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and King's College London; Directed by Aida Andres and Jon Bridle.
