“The presenter was really enthusiastic and helpful – I definitely picked up some top tips.”
Many recruiters deliver presentations throughout the Autumn and Spring terms to publicise their company and recruitment opportunities to UCL students and graduates.
They provide an ideal opportunity for you hear from newly
hired recent graduates, recruitment staff and/or more senior staff who'll tell you about their company, their recruitment process, (tips on applications /
interviews), opportunities available and what it’s like to work for
The lecture style presentation part generally lasts for up to an hour. Additional time for informal networking is often available at the end of a presentation if you’re free to stay on to talk to the recruiters on a 1-1 basis but you can leave after the presentation if you can't stay more than an hour.
For all Presentations, you MUST book in advance as detailed below to guarantee a place. No deposit is required once you've booked and all presentations are free to attend...
Presentations "On Campus"
(If using this for the first time, please read the My UCL Careers Instructions carefully before trying to log in).
Venue details for the presentation will be confirmed when you book and can be checked using the "View my activity" screen in your account.
Booking for each Presentation will open TWO weeks before it takes place and will close when it is fully booked or, at the latest, at midnight on the day before the event takes place.
Presentations "Off Campus"
Presentations listed as "Off Campus" will be in venues organised by the recruiters themselves, often in their own offices.
You will usually need to register with the recruiter directly for these and location details will be provided by them when your registration is confirmed. Any queries about your booking should be directed to the recruiter.
Booking windows will vary so we recommend registering with UCLAlert! so you can be notified as booking opens for any presentations you might be interested in.
Can I attend if I haven't booked?
For "On Campus" presentations, on the day, after all registered students have arrived, space permitting, students that haven't booked will be admitted on a first come first served basis but we cannot guarantee entry.
"Off Campus" events are generally by invitation only so it's usually not possible to attend if you haven't pre-booked. Queries about attendance should go directly to the recruiter.
The Career Planning section of our website suggests a range of resources which provide information on specific occupations and what's happening in a particular sector at the moment plus company profiles for most of the recruiters listed below. A basic knowledge of these areas will allow you to focus on more in-depth questions at the presentation.
For all Presentations, please aim to arrive 5 minutes before the published start time. If you arrive late, the facilitator reserves the right to refuse entry so that you don't disrupt the event for other attendees who arrived on time.
Presentations are popular and usually fully booked. If you know you'll be unable to attend a presentation, you can cancel your booking through your My UCL Careers account at any time up until midnight on the day before the presentation takes place to allow another student to book in your place.
If you don't cancel in advance or don't turn up to a Presentation you're booked to attend, we will record a "No Show" which may affect your future bookings or use of our services.
The Career Planning section of our site suggests alternative sources of information on specific companies / sectors if you've missed a presentation. It will also give information on how to get one-to-one advice on sectors / companies you're interested in.
Individual company websites will also include the type of information typically covered in any presentation plus additional resources such as employee case studies, video profiles and/or tips on writing applications/preparing for interviews and assessment centres.
Using JobOnline or other job sites, you will be able to find details of any vacancies that were being promoted by the company during the presentation.
Register with UCLAlert! if you haven't done so already to ensure you don't miss out on similar events in future.
Resources from past Presentations
One of the key reasons for attending presentations is the "Question and Answer" section and the chance to network with recruiters.
Recruiters generally don't provide information slides or resources which can be accessed here after the presentation but instead direct interested applicants to the information on their website.
However, where resources / recordings are made available, you'll find these below...
LSE International Organisations Day
Saturday 14 November 2015
This event, hosted by LSE Careers, brought together representatives from international organisations to offer an insight into what they do, how they are structured / recruit and what they look for in applicants.
LSE Careers have kindly made lecture-cast recordings of the event available to UCL students and graduates which can be accessed via Careers Tagged* - our online resource library.
*This is a subscription-based resource. UCL students / recent graduates will need
their UCL single sign on userid/password to log in. Graduates will find log-in
details for Careers Tagged on the home screen of their My UCL Careers account.
The Employer Presentation Programme for the spring term has now finished. The past events tab contains details of recruiters who have given presentations this academic year.
Details of future presentations will be available shortly.
To receive notifications about future events, make sure you register with UCLAlert!
Below you will find details of recruiters who ran presentations earlier this academic year. Please be aware that, for some, application windows may now be closed but do check their websites for details...
