Careers Extra
Enhanced careers support for UCL undergraduates from under-represented groups.
The programme includes:
- Paid internships and other work experience opportunities
- Alumni mentoring scheme
- Buddy scheme to get to know other Careers Extra students
- One-to-one appointments with the Careers Extra team to discuss career ideas, work on applications and prepare for interviews
- Priority booking for some UCL Careers events including one-to-one application coaching sessions with leading employers
- Dedicated Moodle resources, including Careers Extra student and alumni career stories and information about opportunities dedicated to students from under-represented groups.
Students who sign up to UCL Careers Extra will be added to a circulation list for events and programmes that may be of interest.
Are you eligible to join Careers Extra?
You can join Careers Extra if you are a UK (home fee status) undergraduate student at UCL and belong to one or more of the following groups:
- Disabled or you have a long-term health condition
- Care experienced or estranged student
- Refugee or forced migrant
You can also join if you are a UK (home fee status) undergraduate at UCL, went to a UK state school for GCSEs and A levels (or equivalent) and belong to one or more of the following groups:
- Household income below £25,000 (as declared to Student Finance England)
- Neither parent went to university
- Young adult carer
- Black British African, Black British Caribbean or mixed British Black heritage
- British Pakistani, British Bangladeshi or mixed British Pakistani or British Bangladeshi heritage
- Received an Access UCL offer
- On the Engineering Foundation Year Programme at UCL East
Why is Careers Extra for these groups? Our research shows us that students belonging to these groups are underrepresented at UCL and/or in a number of professions.
Your privacy
The personal information that you provide on the form above will only be used for the purposes stated above.
The data submitted will be transferred to UCL Careers who will retain it in line with our Privacy Notice. The data will also be stored on Qualtrics, which is a UCL-approved Cloud service.
