Resource packs

Journalism Resource Pack

Journalists research, write, edit, proofread and file news stories, features and articles. Their work is broadcast on television and radio or published in magazines, journals, newspapers, and online. A career in journalism is fast changing, with developments in technology meaning that more people have access to news reports than ever before.

Broadcast Media Resource Pack

We use the term broadcast media to encompass TV, Film, Radio and Digital programming. There is no one clear route into the industry, making industry knowledge and networking key skills to gain a foot in the door. Some people start with a junior role to gain experience and contacts before working their way up to their desired role, whilst others compete for a limited number of places on large graduate and training schemes.

Publishing Resource Pack

Publishing is one of the UK’s leading creative industries, communicating concepts and ideas around the world.

According to research by the UK Publishers Association, ‘the publishing industry has a turnover of more than £6bn and directly employs 29,000 people in the UK. It is the largest exporter of books in the world, with income from exports accounting for almost 60% of revenues’.

Marketing, Advertising & PR Resource Pack

Across all sectors, marketing, advertising and PR techniques are used to connect with audiences and promote services. Roles in the sector can be broadly divided into those working in house for an organisation and those working for an agency.
