Focus on Management
"The 'Focus' course has been amongst the most interesting and inspiring opportunities I have taken advantage of during my time at UCL. Indeed, I'm sure the skills I learned and honed has helped me secure several job offers mere weeks after the course concluded. I urge all UCL students to have a go at this brilliant exercise."
The Focus on Management course has been amongst the most interesting and inspiring opportunities I was fortunate enough to take advantage of during my time at UCL. Working with such bright and ambitious students during the course, as well as learning how to succeed at assessment centres were invaluable experiences. Indeed, I'm sure the skills I learned and honed on Focus on Management helped me secure several job offers mere weeks after the course concluded. I urge all UCL students to have a go at this brilliant exercise and wish you luck in your endeavours."
The most popular event we run at UCL Careers, our three-day non-residential course is an exciting and challenging way to get practical experience tackling real-life case studies with top employers from a range of sectors. You’ll work with experienced managers who’ll give you personalised feedback on your team work, commercial awareness and employability skills.
Not only this, but you’ll be able to boost your CV, develop your skills and find out more about which working style seems right for you. Be prepared for an event which will offer a fantastic learning and networking opportunity with a number of different high-profile companies.
The course will run during the Summer term. You will need to complete an application form to be considered.
Exact location and details of who to ask for on arrival will be emailed to successful applicants closer to the date.
The course is open to current UCL students as well as GradClub members and you’ll need your student ID or GradClub card to make the required deposit.
Make the most of your time during the course by doing a little research beforehand. Browse the Help with… section to give yourself an overview of many of the topics which are covered during Focus on Management.
Applications will open later on in the Spring term.
Please check your availability before you apply. Also, be aware we always have more responses than spaces so there is a chance you may not be successful. To make the application process as fair as possible, we don’t assess any applications until after the closing date has passed. However, we do advise you to make your application as soon as possible!
Once you have applied, we will be in touch if you have been accepted on to the course, and provide you with further details. We ask you to pay a £20 deposit which will be refunded after you’ve completed the three days. You have up until a week before the first day to claim your deposit back if you decide you can't attend and cancel.
