This session is the second part of the Working in a Global World series and builds on Working in a Global World 1: Preparing for Today's International Job Market on 6th June.
You must have attended this first session to join this second part so, please click here to book your place for that if you haven't done so already.
(Note: When you book for Part I of the workshop on 6th June, our team will automatically book a place for you for this second part so, there is no need to book here yourself).

During the workshop:
Whether you are working in the country of your upbringing, or elsewhere in the world, we operate in a global marketplace.
Are there valid generalisations about cultural differences that you can become informed about and use constructively? Or are misunderstandings just down to personality? Or even more problematically are they just unhelpful stereotypes? These are the types of questions it is productive to engage with whether you are already living in a country foreign to you or are considering it.
In this interactive workshop, we will cover how to go about navigating these complexities more comfortably and successfully in your personal and professional life.
This interactive session is composed of three parts:
- An introduction to cultural scales/dimensions/models and how to use them constructively (for example, learning where the culture of your upbringing and personal priorities stand in relation to a foreign culture's generalised priorities - while also avoiding stereotyping);
- Cross-cultural awareness in the careers context - what you need to know and do generally as well as some specifics about applications and interviews in the UK
- Creating a personal action plan to become more culturally fluent and employable globally; troubleshooting that plan: what obstacles have you encountered, how can they be overcome?
