Are you thinking of working in the Creative Industries after your degree? Or perhaps you’d just like to know more about the area?
Through these events you will gain tips on routes into the industry at panel events featuring UCL alumni and experienced professionals. You will learn what you can start doing now to increase your chances of success! Our packed week-long events programme will cover:

How to prepare
Speaker profiles will be provided for each event, allowing you to do some initial research before attending. This will help you ask insightful questions at the events themselves.
We would recommend that you read through the range of help sheets and resources recommended on our resource library on effective networking and the relevant sector guides below, to better understand job roles, key employers and emploment opportunities, sources of sector news and information, and how UCL can help you:
We will also run a regular series of lunchtime talks on effective networking at events as part of our Career Essentials programme which provide tips and advice on building your professional networks.

- Start your creative career on campus!

This event has already taken place.
This in-person event will feature a panel discussion with current students working across a selection of UCL’s vibrant Creative Student Union societies who will be sharing how their on-campus activities are helping them start their creative careers.
You'll get the chance to find out more about the opportunities offered by each society, how to get involved and to ask questions and get more in depth knowledge. The panel and Q&A will be followed by a networking session to give you a chance to speak to them individually and get even more detail on how you can get involved with these societies. You will have the chance to sign up to become a member of the societies at this event.

- How to showcase your work to establish your creative career
Thursday 27 November, 5:30pm - 7pm
Are you looking to kickstart your creative career but unsure how to present your work effectively? Join us for “How to Showcase Your Work to Establish Your Creative Career”, an engaging online event designed to help you build confidence in promoting your creative skills and projects.
The session will begin with a short presentation from a UCL Careers creative expert, who will share practical guidance on developing a strong creative portfolio — from selecting your best work to tailoring it for different audiences and opportunities. Following this, a panel of creative professionals from a range of industries will discuss their own experiences of showcasing their work during job applications and interviews.
This event offers valuable, real-world insights into how your portfolio can become a powerful tool in securing roles across the creative sector. Whether you’re an artist, designer, writer, or journalist, you’ll leave with actionable tips on how to make your work stand out and tell your story impactfully.
