Research Department of Children’s Cardiovascular Disease 

The vision of the Department of Children’s Cardiovascular Disease at ICS is that every child with heart disease should have as normal a childhood as possible. As one of the largest paediatric cardiovascular groups in the World, our mission is to improve the quality of life for children with heart disease through translation of new treatments into safe patient care, whilst training the next generation of clinicians and researchers. We want to promote excellence in research that has direct patient benefit, through demonstrable clinical outcomes, in an environment that is safe, transparent and supportive for patients, parents and staff, which is equally accessible to all. Our focus areas for research are: Use of big data for precision, predictive & personalised medicine (using clinical data, genomics, metabolomics, radiomics and outcomes); advanced imaging; cardiac transplantation; cardiovascular engineering & modelling; inherited cardiovascular disease; patient communication; and pulmonary hypertension.
