Cardiovascular Science MSc student nominated for Academic Rep of the Year
28 May 2020
Congratulations to Heather Gunn, a student on the Cardiovascular Science MSc programme, for her nomination for the Academic Rep of the Year Award.
This nomination recognises Heather’s enthusiasm in representing students and her effectiveness in working with staff to enhance students’ academic experience.
Reflecting on her role as a Rep, Heather said:
“It was a privilege and honour to be the ICS PGT Lead Representative this year, to not only help reflect student’s views, but also to work with staff and progress education at UCL. To be in a position that could create change and progress, such as connecting PGT and PGR students, was a huge honour and has helped me grow on a personal level. The departmental staff have given me many opportunities to collaborate, to not only act as a team player but to also take the lead, such as co-chairing the Term 3 ICS SSCC meeting. This role has taught me the that it is important to listen and care about one’s surrounding, and to use one’s voice to evoke change and growth, lessons that I will take with me in all walks of life.”
Student Reps play a key role in developing students’ educational experience on all programmes within the Institute of Cardiovascular Science. Thanks go to all of our Reps for their contributions this year: Mohammad Amin (MSc Cardiovascular Science), Federica Ezennia, Amrutha Koppula, Momna Raja (iBSc Cardiovascular Science), Gavin Manmathan, Lamia Al Saikhan, Brian Wong and Han Seo (MD(Res) and PhD programmes).
